KOTA KINABALU:
A Sabah Forestry Department research worker missing in the Deramakot forest reserve was found this morning.

Research assistant MA Tajuddin Mustapha, 44, had been reported missing since Tuesday.

He was found on a gravel road at Km6 and was taken to the search party’s command post for treatment, a spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department told reporters.

Fifty personnel from the fire and forestry departments as well as the police general operations force, took part in the search.

Tajuddin went missing after taking a detour to look for herbs.

He was part of a five-member research team returning on foot to the road after completing their work.

They had entered the 55,507ha forest reserve to carry out an inventory of trees.

Forest Department director Sam Mannan said Tajuddin’s colleagues sounded the alarm after he failed to rejoin them.

The search teams had used flares and a helicopter in their search for the missing man.
