Kelantan PKR chairman Ab Aziz Ab Kadir, who announced the appointment, said Hafidz’s sacking was undemocratic and done without due process.
In a statement today, Aziz also declared the appointment of Mohd Khairul Amin Abdul Rahman by PKR national youth leader Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad to replace Hafidz had contravened clause 14.4 of the PKR Youth rules.
Aziz said the clause clearly required that the appointment of the state youth chief be made only after consultations with the state youth divisions and the PKR state chairman.
“Unfortuntely, Nik Nazmi failed to follow this process. Because of that, I don’t recognise the appointment of the new Kelantan youth chief.
“In line with the appointment of Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin as the youth coordinator at the national level by de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, I, as the PKR Kelantan chairman, appoint Hafidz Rizal as Kelantan youth coordinator.”
He urged all PKR youth divisions in the state to give their cooperation and work as a team to strengthen PKR and launch preparations to face the coming general election.
Nik Nazmi, in announcing the sacking of Hafidz, said the decision was made at the request of party members in the state and after discussions the week before.
He said he received feedback from the members after a meeting between the party’s national and state youth leaders, who included Hafidz.
Nik Nazmi denied Hafidz was removed because he wanted to continue working with PAS although PKR had ordered the party’s political appointees in the Kelantan administration to quit their posts following the ending of ties between the two former allies.
Yesterday, Hafidz claimed his sacking did not follow the party’s rules and Nik Nazmi had acted on his own.
