“It’s not fair to say it’s not a loss. We’ve been trying hard to reconcile our differences in the past few months, but he’s made his decision. There’s nothing we can do about that,” Sabah DAP chairman Stephen Wong said today.
He said whatever vacancy left by Bosi would be filled by other party leaders.
Bosi announced his resignation from DAP in a statement today, citing differences with Wong and their failure at reconciliation.
Speaking to reporters here, Wong said: “Of course we feel sad with Edwin’s decision to leave.
“Leaders can come and go. Whatever it is, DAP and its principles remain intact and the members’ spirit is high. We will keep giving our service for the good of Sabahans.”
Bosi had said the state DAP committee under Wong initially wanted to sack him.
He was then referred to the DAP national disciplinary committee which handed down a three-month suspension without calling him in to defend himself.
According to Bosi, the suspension period would end at the end of the month. His resignation, which was officially tendered on Aug 24, would take effect on Aug 31.
In April, Bosi threatened to run as an independent if he was dropped from his state seat in the 14th general election (GE14).
He said he had sought clarification from Wong on the matter, but Wong could not confirm that Bosi would be nominated to defend the seat.
Bosi won the Kepayan seat in the 2013 general election with a 7,000-vote majority in a four-cornered contest.
