
Kuala Lumpur police chief Amar Singh Ishar Singh said the roads would be closed from 6am until the events ended.
About 100,000 people are expected to attend the events.
“Those who wish to go to the National Stadium on that day are advised to use public transport to avoid congestion,” he told a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters here today.
Amar Singh also said a number of main roads around the capital would be closed in stages from tomorrow until Monday from 6am to 1pm to make way for the National Day rehearsals.
The roads are Jalan Travers/Jalan Damansara (National Museum); Lebuhraya Sultan Iskandar (Mahameru) /Jalan Damansara (Carcosa); Lebuhraya Sultan Iskandar (Mahameru) /Jalan Damansara (Muzium Negara exit); Bulatan Hishamuddin/Jalan Lembah (Masjid Negara); Jalan Perdana/Jalan Lembah; Jalan Kinabalu/Bulatan Hishamuddin (Dayabumi); Jalan Kinabalu/Jalan Hishamuddin (Bukit Aman exit) and Jalan Lembah/Jalan Cenderasari.
Also affected would be Leboh Pasar Besar/Jalan Hang Kasturi; Leboh Ampang/Jalan Tun Perak; Jalan Dang Wangi/Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman; Jalan Kuching/Bulatan Dato Onn; Jalan Kinabalu/Bulatan Dato Onn; Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman/Jalan Raja (Dataran Merdeka); Jalan Hishamuddin/Jalan Raja (Dataran Merdeka); Jalan Parlimen/Bulatan Dato Onn (Kuala Lumpur City Hall); Jalan Dato Onn/Jalan Raja (Royal Selangor Club); Jalan Sultan Ismail /Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman and Jalan Munsyi Abdullah /Jalan Dang Wangi.
Amar Singh advised the public to abide by traffic regulations and follow the road signs put up during the period.
“Motorists are prohibited from parking vehicles on road shoulders, especially along the routes involved in the event. Errant motorists will be fined and have their cars towed,” he said.
