Police say the 15-year-old Sarawakian student had been raped seven times by her 48-year-old father since she was 12.
Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department chief Dev Kumar said the teenager claimed the first incident took place at a hut inside an oil palm plantation.
“The other incidents allegedly took place at her house at a village in Kabong, Saratok,” the New Straits Times quoted Dev as saying.
The school counsellor lodged a complaint which led to the arrest of the victim’s father at the family home at about 11am Friday.
Police say they will obtain a remand order against the suspect, who is a farmer.
Dev said the case was being investigated under Section 376B of the Penal Code, which upon conviction carries a maximum 30 years’ jail and whipping.
He said the victim had been sent to Sibu Hospital for a medical examination.
