The two sisters from Kampung Daha Seroban in Serian, Sarawak, claimed that they had been raped by the family members since they were 13 and nine years old, reported the New Straits Times.
The case came to light when the elder sister became pregnant and the Serian Hospital informed the police of the teenage pregnancy.
When quizzed, the teen told the authorities of how she and her younger sister were repeatedly raped in the family home by the four male family members.
The four, aged between 26 and 57, were arrested in Kampung Daha Seroban at 3.30pm today.
“The four suspects are expected to be remanded at the Magistrate’s Court in Serian tomorrow,” state Criminal Investigation Department chief Dev Kumar said.
According to Dev, the case is being investigated under Section 376B of the Penal Code for statutory rape, which carries a maximum 30 years’ jail and caning, upon conviction.
This is the second such case in Sarawak in recent weeks involving rape by multiple family members.
On July 28, five people were charged with the rape of a 12-year-old girl in Limbang.
The accused were the victim’s 76-year-old grandfather, her 40-year-old father, and three cousins aged between 16 and 21.
They were charged with raping the girl at several locations in a village near Limbang between last November and June this year.
