Me, a road bully? I am the victim, claims man in two viral videos

Businessman Simren Singh says, in both incidents, his car was rammed from behind, adding that he has received 2,000 threats to his life on social media after videos of the incidents went viral.

PETALING JAYA: A man who is being labelled as a “road bully” after being involved in two incidents which went viral recently says he is actually the victim in both incidents.

Simren Singh, a businessman, also said he had received about 2,000 threats to his life on social media after two videos of him “confronting” the other motorists involved in the accident went viral.

Speaking to FMT, Simren said on both occasions, it was his car which was rammed from behind by the other motorists.

FMT has contacted the police and the Road Transport Department (JPJ) for comment and is awaiting a response.

First incident

Simren said in the first incident, which happened in January, he was driving along Sungai Besi in his four-wheel drive when a luxury sedan hit his car from behind.

“If you look at the video, it starts just after my car was rammed from behind. That’s why my car is in front of theirs.

“I stopped my car but instead of stopping, they tried to run away so I sped up, overtook them and stopped my car in front of theirs.”

Simren said after he blocked the other car, he got down and took a picture of the car as he needed the details in case he lodged a police report.

“In my anger, I showed them the middle finger and I got in my car and left,” he said, adding the car was a company car and that damage to the car needed to be repaired.

Simren said after taking his car to be checked, he found the damage to be very minor and decided not to lodge a police report.

“If the people who uploaded the video believe I am a road bully, why didn’t they lodge a police report against me? To my knowledge, no police report on that incident has been made against me.”

Second time ‘unlucky’

Just six months later, Simren said he was hit from behind again while driving along Jalan Genting Klang.

This time, he said, he was in the middle lane and wanted to switch to the right lane and had turned on his indicator light.

“After about 15 seconds, my car was rammed from the back. I got down to inspect the damage to my car and the other driver started screaming profanities at me. I also noticed that his road tax had expired, which is an offence.

“I had enough of his screaming at me so I too shouted back at him to stop. I even said that we should go to the nearest police station to lodge a report as I would need a report to claim the insurance.”

Simren said a few passersby then came over to cool things down. He added that one passerby told him to leave the area as it was “unsafe”.

“Now social media users are claiming that I rammed his car, which is untrue. I left only because I was outnumbered and I didn’t want to be bashed up.

“But after I left the area I lodged a police report with the traffic police over the accident.”

Simren said the other person lodged a report against him under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief and thereby causing damage to the amount of RM25.

“So I lodged a counter report at the Setapak police station under the same section.”

Simren said he would not stop pursuing justice despite receiving 2,000 threats against his life.

“There are a lot of fanatics out there who want to harm me. I will be lodging a report on these threats soon.”
