KLANG:
A two-year-old boy was trapped for almost an hour in his father’s car outside the family home on Jalan Tepi Sungai here today.

This happened after he accidentally pressed the lock button from inside the vehicle.

Firemen rescued the victim after smashing a glass window of the Audi when they failed to open its doors.

Kota Raja Fire and Rescue Station operations officer Mohd Fauzi Ramli said in the 11.15am incident, the boy was believed to have entered the car without his parents’ knowledge.

“It was learnt his parents were getting ready for an Aidilfitri function in the house before they realised the boy was trapped in the car.

“The father contacted the fire station and a team of firemen arrived at the scene about 10 minutes later,” he said in a statement here today.

After failing to open the car doors, Fauzi said the team was forced to smash a window screen using special equipment to rescue the boy at 12.52pm.

“After 30 minutes, when we could not open the doors and the boy began to panic and cry … we had to smash the window (to rescue him),” he added.
