PAS vice-president Idris Ahmad said in three days Sarawak Report had managed to collect that amount from 615 contributors.
“Maybe they will receive a lot more (donations).”
He said political parties from Pakatan Harapan have a grudge against PAS for upholding Islamic values.
“But we won’t bow down to anyone.
“We don’t have any paymasters, internationally or locally, to give us dedak,” he was quoted as saying in Harakah Daily, the party’s official mouthpiece.
“Dedak” is a euphemism to describe bribes.
He also said that those who supported Sarawak Report would rush to donate even more.
The Bukit Gantang MP said PAS would face all these challenges with the strength of its members.
Yesterday, it was reported that Sarawak Report had managed to raise money in just three days through crowdfunding platform Crowd Justice.
It had so far raised £30,452 through 615 contributors.
On April 21, Hadi filed a defamation suit against Sarawak Report at the High Court in London.
Hadi is suing because of a Sarawak Report article which suggested that Prime Minister Najib Razak had channelled RM90 million to PAS, an allegation which the Islamist party has denied.
Sarawak Report said it faces huge legal fees in filing its defence against Hadi’s suit.
Previously, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man had also directed its members to contribute RM5 each and those in the leadership to contribute RM100 each to fund the legal action.
At its recent muktamar, PAS had set up a special fund to collect money to cover the “costly” legal expenses for the suit.
The Islamist party was reported to have sought to raise RM200,000.
