PETALING JAYA: A drunk woman passenger on board a Malaysia Airlines flight bound for Heathrow, had her hands and feet tied after she screamed racist slurs at the cabin crew and kicked a flight attendant for refusing her more alcohol.

According to a news report in UK’s The Sun, Maxine Williams, 57, a hospital receptionist from Fulham, southwest London, has been convicted of charges including assault and being drunk on board an aircraft in the incident that took place in January this year.

According to testimony given in a Willesden, North West London court by flight attendant Teoh Ming Lee, Williams kicked her and screamed “I f**king hate your country” in reaction to being refused more alcohol.

Teoh 36, told the court: “She (Williams) used a lot of f*** words. She said, ‘Give me a f***ing coke. I want more f***ing alcohol.

“She couldn’t stand up properly and kept leaning to the side.

“She kicked my meal cart, the water on the cart spilled onto the passenger.

“I told her don’t kick the cart so she started swearing.”

Williams reportedly barged into first class, demanding more alcohol and even fell on another passenger, snapping an arm rest. Her outburst caused some children to cry and one family moved away to another deck, The Sun reported.

In a bid to restrain the drunk passenger, cabin crew quickly tied the woman’s hands behind her back with plastic loops. Her legs were later bound with gaffer tape after she kicked Teoh in an angry outburst.

Williams’ unruly behaviour even led the captain of the A380 to declare a security alert at 30,000ft, The Sun reported.

It was believed Williams had been on a 10-hour drinking binge although she lashed out in court saying, “My behaviour was normal.”

Magistrates have sent the case to the crown court for sentencing.
