As a result the PKR vice-president ended up naming Florence Goh, the owner of CRT Insights Technologies Sdn Bhd who claimed she had nothing to do with Godfrey Group, aside from perhaps sharing the same name with latter’s director.
Wee, in a joint press conference with Goh today, said Rafizi had in his statements on Godfrey, published Goh’s Chinese given name – Goh Siew Boey – the name of her company, along with a Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) copy of her company registration for CRT Insight Technologies.
But while Rafizi said the 42 Jalan Molek 2/3 address, listed in official documents filed with the United States Department of Justice (DoJ) for Godfrey Group, was the same address shared with Goh’s CRT Insights Technologies, the SSM documents showed the latter is actually registered at Jalan Molek 2/1.
“Rafizi must check his facts before making wild allegations. How can you make such mistakes and simply accuse a person of something they didn’t do,” Wee said.
The Ayer Hitam MP this morning also provided the media with a printout of the company registration details from SSM, pertaining to the company that was registered at the address Rafizi stated in his allegations on the alleged agreement between Godfrey Group and US lobbyist, The 45 Group.
It belonged to another company which also has a Florence Goh listed as its director, but with a different Chinese given name.
“There may be more than one Florence Goh in Malaysia. So he (Rafizi) didn’t need to put the name of Goh’s company.
“He couldn’t differentiate between ‘1’ and ‘3’. As an MP, he has the right to expose whatever, but don’t victimise those who are innocent,” Wee said.
Goh, on the other hand, said that she had, on Monday, lodged a police report against Rafizi. She also demanded for a public apology from Rafizi, as the Pandan MP had also made the allegations against her publicly.
“I’m not this person (as alleged by Rafizi) and I’m not related to any political party. I’m just a businesswoman.
“For him to make such allegations online, it’s harmful for me, my family and my business. So I hope the authorities will assist me as I am innocent.”
According to Goh, since Rafizi linked her to Godfrey Group last weekend, she had received calls from her clients in other parts of the world, asking if the allegations were true.
Her employees had asked the same, forcing her to issue a memo to them explaining how Rafizi had falsely accused her.
“I was supposed to be celebrating my company’s 10th anniversary when this bomb dropped,” Goh said, adding that she “reserves the right to sue Rafizi” if he does not apologise and clear her name immediately.
Last week, US news portal Daily Beast reported that the Malaysian government had obtained the services of a former aide to US President Donald Trump, Healy Baumgardner-Nardone, and her company, The 45 Group, to carry out lobbying activities on its behalf with the US government.
According to the US news portal, the documents filed with the DoJ’s National Security Division said that Baumgardner-Nardone had stated The 45 Group would provide “government relations and public relations services in support of the Government of Malaysia and strengthening the US-Malaysian relationship”
On Saturday, Rafizi claimed The 45 Group was hired through Godfrey Group, and according to DoJ documents he cited, a Florence Goh was named as representing the Godfrey Group.
The DoJ form submitted by Baumgardner-Nardone had listed Godfrey Group’s principal address as 43, Jalan Molek 2/3, Taman Molek, Johor Bahru.
Putrajaya had on May 26 denied hiring The 45 Group to lobby the US government on its behalf.
