PETALING JAYA: Police will call in veteran actor Sulaiman Yassin and film producer David Teo to obtain their statements over a scuffle that broke out at the Transformasi Nasional 2050 (TN50) forum on the entertainment industry last week.

According to Sin Chew Daily, Kuala Lumpur police criminal investigation department chief Rusdi Mohd Isa said that Sulaiman, more popularly known as “Mat Over” and Teo will be called in today. He added that neither men had reported to the police since the incident took place.

In the incident last Wednesday, Teo had criticised the TN50 forum moderator, actor Rosyam Nor, for allegedly overlooking the audience seated at the back of the hall when taking questions or suggestions.

Sulaiman, apparently unhappy with the manner in which Teo was speaking, walked over to him in front of everyone and slapped him.

The incident was caught on video, with a number of clips taken by different individuals becoming viral on social media.

Security officials subsequently escorted both men from the venue, a hall at Seri Perdana, Putrajaya. The two later re-emerged to reconcile in front of Najib and the audience.

Several parties have called on the police to take criminal action against Sulaiman, who has reportedly said he did not regret what he did.

This included Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh who said failure to take action against Mat Over will send the wrong message to the people.

The DAP lawmaker added that there was “no doubt” that Mat Over had committed an offence and could be charged with assault.

The case is being investigated for voluntarily causing hurt.
