He said they will not send anyone even if they do get an invitation.
“We have not gotten anything (invitation) yet,” he reportedly said. “But it looks like there is no possibility of us attending.”
PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution had earlier today said an invitation had been sent to PAS to grace the event, but there has been no confirmation or reply.
He said the invitation was dispatched before PAS confirmed that it was breaking the ties.
“We have invited PAS and will wait for their response,” he said.
On May 11, PAS’ Syura Council had endorsed the unanimous decision of the party’s muktamar (general assembly) to cease its “tahaluf siyasi” (political cooperation) with PKR with immediate effect.
The muktamar at the Kedah PAS’ complex in Kota Sarang Semut near Alor Setar was attended by PKR vice-president Shaharuddin Badaruddin on behalf of his party.
Shaharuddin was received cordially and was seated on stage with PAS leaders at the opening of the muktamar.
Despite its decision to sever ties, PAS has maintained that its three state executive councillors in Selangor which is headed by menteri besar Azmin Ali, the PKR deputy president, will not step down.
Saifuddin said both DAP and Amanah, allies in the Pakatan Harapan coalition, have confirmed their attendance at PKR’s congress.
The event will kick off at the PJ on the evening of May 19,
This will be followed by the youth wing observing its congress in IDCC Shah Alam and the women’s wing having its congress in the PJ Civic Hall the next day.
It has been reported that a total 2,167 delegates and 2,000 observers are expected to show up with the theme this year focussing on the upcoming 14th general election (GE14).
