KUALA LUMPUR: A jilted man, who punched his ex-wife for refusing reconciliation, now has to serve six months in prison after failing to pay the RM2,000 fine imposed by the Magistrate’s Court here today.
Magistrate Haslinda A Raof meted out a RM2,000 fine, in default six months’ jail, to Mohd Razif Ahmad, 30, after he pleaded guilty to a charge of voluntarily causing grievous hurt to his former wife, Nashasila Mohd Nasir, 30, a marketing officer, by punching her in the face.
Razif committed the offence inside a car in front of the Ampang Hospital, Jalan Mewah Utara, Taman Pandan Mewah, here at 12.10am on March 23 and was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code.
When he failed to pay the fine, the court ordered the man, who works at a car workshop, to be sent to the Kajang Prison to serve the jail sentence.
