State police acting chief SAC Din Ahmad said police would conduct a comprehensive investigation based on existing laws as well as seek information from authorities in neighbouring countries.
He was speaking to reporters after officiating the flagging-off ceremony for the 19th Kelantan Contingent Malaysia Royal Police Cadet Corp National Level Camping Convoy here today.
Din was commenting on a newspaper report of a local man suspected of links with the IS and who was supplying firearms to the militant group.
It is understood the 27-year-old fugitive from Rantau Panjang had escaped to Thailand after several police raids were conducted in various areas in the state.
According to the report, since early this year, four men and two women, aged between 24 and 41, were detained in Kelantan, Selangor, Johor, Malacca and Penang for suspected links with the IS.
