KUALA LUMPUR: The police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) have been asked to investigate the spreading of intimate photographs of individuals resembling DAP’s Zairil Khir Johari and Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud on social media.

Umno Grassroots Movement Malaysia (Gaum) chairperson Zulkarnain Mahdar said investigations should be conducted to find the real culprit behind the fake images and to clear the Barisan Nasional (BN) and Umno that have been implicated and accused of spreading the images with the intention of discrediting the two.

“I am very sure that it (spreading of images of Zairil and Dyana) is not by Umno or BN. In the general election we fight against DAP using facts.

“Maybe it is the enemies of Zairil (Bukit Bendera MP) who did this, who know, so we want the police and MCMC to investigate,” he said after lodging a police report about the images at the Sri Petaling police station here today.

He said both Dyana Sofya (former DAP candidate in the Teluk Intan by-election) and Zairil should come forward and clarify the matter as everybody wanted to know for sure if the images were fake or otherwise.

“Zairil should come forward to lodge a police report, and I personally agree with Dyana Sofya that the dissemination of the pictures was a violation of individual rights and should not have happened.

“If the images are not fake, admit it and get married, so we can end this controversy and Umno will not continue to be blamed in this issue,” he said.

Recently, intimate pictures allegedly of Zairil and Dyana went viral on social media.

This is the third time intimate images and a video associated with DAP’s Malay leaders have gone viral. However, neither Dyana nor Zairil have stepped forward to clear the air.
