An MACC source said the trio aged between 26 and 27 were suspected to have received between RM10,000 and RM30,000 from bookies and were arrested when they turned up to give their statements at the MACC office in Putrajaya, yesterday.
“An investigation found, they had been involved in the activity for several years. They are believed to have made hundreds of thousands of ringgit in bribes,” the source said when contacted by Bernama.
The source said more individuals would be detained soon to help in the investigation.
MACC deputy chief commissioner (Operations) Azam Baki confirmed the arrests.
The Malaysia Premier League is a second tier competition in the domestic football scene.
