KUALA LUMPUR:
Ride-sharing service Grab Malaysia and national oil company Petronas today signed a business partnership to offer Grab drivers fuel savings.

Grab and Petronas Dagangan Bhd (PDB) introduced the exclusive loyalty programme for drivers called “Kad Mesra Grab”.

This allows drivers to enjoy savings on petrol and other lubricants and goods sold at discounted prices at Petronas stations.

Grab Malaysia country head Sean Goh said this initiative was targeted at the 20% “heavy” drivers on the road i.e. those behind the wheel for 12 hours a day.

“These ‘heavy’ drivers have to bear a lot of costs to take on passengers.

“We know that some of them have to rent a car to make a living with Grab,” he told reporters after signing the strategic partnership with Petronas at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre here.

Present at the signing was PDB head of retail business division Aadrin Azly and PDB managing director and chief executive officer Mohd Ibrahimnuddin Mohd Yunus.

However, Goh did not disclose how many Grab drivers would benefit from this service.
