SHAH ALAM: Even when facing the enemy, it is better to use civil words.

This is Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali’s advice to Abdul Hadi Awang after the PAS president likened working with BN as having to handle a live monitor lizard (biawak) on the shoulder and Pakatan Harapan as a bigger biawak.

Hadi had used this analogy when replying to queries as to which party PAS would work with in the coming general election, indicating that the Islamist party would forge ahead alone in the next polls.

“We should use words that are civil, soft and mutually respectable. Even though we may argue with the enemy, there is no need to be rude.”

The PKR deputy president said there was no necessity to use the biawak analogy.

Azmin’s comment comes in the wake of him posting a mocking tweet on the defeat of PAS Youth chief Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz in the party’s Pengkalan Chepa divisional election on March 18.

The relations between PAS and PKR have been increasingly strained, with several PAS divisions, including those in Penang, passing resolutions for PAS to sever all ties with PKR.
