“If Jawi wants us to arrest him, we will help them,” IGP Khalid Abu Bakar said.
He was speaking to reporters after attending a ceremony at the federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman, where the police received new Kia cars today.
A few days ago, it was reported that Ibrahim, who performed a beach ritual to “protect” Malaysia from North Korean attacks, would soon have a date with the police.
A video of him and his assistants performing the ritual in which he used a bamboo cannon to “thwart” foreign threats or attacks on the country, has since gone viral.
His actions stemmed from political tensions between Malaysia and North Korea following the assassination of Kim Jong Nam, the estranged half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, at klia2 on the morning of Feb 13.
The Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) has since summoned Ibrahim to explain his actions and the ritual as seen in the video.
However, Ibrahim reportedly ignored Jakim and did not turn up for the meeting.
Khalid also went on to clarify the Bernama report that quoted him as saying that the men in blue would investigate Ibrahim in accordance with Section 111 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CPC).
“We won’t investigate him under the CPC. We will just call him to give a statement. We are just doing our part to help Jawi.”
