Bayan Baru PAS chief and state PAS secretary Iszuree Ibrahim said this was after a five-point motion was passed during its annual meeting here yesterday.
One of the key reasons given were that PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim had not defended Iszuree when he was sacked as a municipal councillor three years ago.
“The sacking was done without reasonable grounds and was not even referred to the PAS leadership. There was also no defence from PKR or its adviser Anwar on behalf of PAS.
“In fact, Anwar had said in a statement he would not defend the PAS councillor who was sacked,” Iszuree said in a statement yesterday.
Isuzree was a member of the Penang Island Municipal Council until 2015, when his contract was not renewed.
But he had already been dropped from three standing committees in the council the year before and his allocations as a municipal councillor frozen, after he had criticised the Penang government at a PAS muktamar.
Iszuree had hit out at the Penang government’s policies on development projects involving land occupied by squatters.
Other than the Anwar factor, Bayan Baru PAS’ reasons to split was similar to their Permatang Pauh counterparts earlier yesterday.
Meanwhile, Iszuree also said Bayan Baru PAS’ decision to cut ties with PKR was due to PKR’s “friendliness” with DAP and Amanah during the Kuala Kangsar, Sungai Besar and Sarawak polls in mid-2016.
“This ‘mesra’ relationship of PKR with DAP and Amanah is against PAS’ policies,” he said.
Iszuree also said PAS was unhappy with how DAP disbanded the Pakatan Rakyat single handedly without the agreement of PKR and PAS.
Iszuree also said the alleged meddling by a state exco man into Penang fatwa issues was another reason for the split. A PKR man is currently state exco for religious affairs.
“PKR cannot be a good partner. It is of no value, they hampered efforts to strengthen Islam, have no respect as friends although PAS had helped PKR from the 1999 to 2013 polls.
“We have decided that the tahaluf siyasi with PKR be cancelled,” he said.
