The man was charged with committing the offence at his home in Kamunting, near here, about 7pm on March 8, according to a report in The New Straits Times.
The 20-year-old man was charged before judge Mohd Sabri Ismail at the Sessions Court here.
He was charged under Section 376B of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of between 10 to 30 years and whipping upon conviction.
The NST report said a man and woman, believed to be his brother and mother, who were present in court, left without talking to him.
Deputy public prosecutor Safiyatun Ahmadun asked the court to deny bail, saying that the crime involved a son and his biological mother residing in the same house.
Lawyer M Kathan, representing the accused, said he would leave the matter to the court’s discretion.
The judge allowed RM8,000 bail with one surety, and fixed April 21 for mention.
