PETALING JAYA: A woman who loved her dog dearly left a note asking the public to adopt her pet before allegedly killing herself, The Borneo Post reported.

The death of the woman, whom Sibu police believe was suffering from depression, came to light after she failed to turn up for work yesterday.

In the evening when colleagues from the factory where she worked as a security guard, went to look for her in her room, they found she had died from hanging.

Police later found the note she wrote appealing for her dog to be adopted.

According to her colleagues, the woman, who is a widow from Kapit, did not look happy prior to the alleged suicide, and had also asked them if they wanted to adopt her dog.

Her children are said to be living elsewhere in Sarawak, so her dog was her loyal friend and companion.

Colleagues say the dog also walked with her daily to work and back, since she started her job at a Sungai Bidut factory.

“The dog has been her loyal companion. She kept it clean and healthy. We all liked the dog,” a colleague was quoted as saying.

According to the Sarawak-based daily, the woman used to operate a hawker stall in Kapit but had to move to Sibu in search of work because of poor business.

The factory boss told his staff he was willing to adopt the dog.
