MACHANG:
The rural and regional development ministry has allocated RM40 million this year to replace rusty water pipes in Kelantan to provide the people with clean water.

Deputy minister Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub said the projects would be implemented promptly as in many areas, the water pipes were installed 40 years ago.

“The use of rusty pipes results in a large number of people being forced to use dirty water,” he told reporters at an event to hand over flood aid in Kampung Dewan here today.

More than 360 flood victims in the village received rice, sugar, biscuits and tea packets.

Jazlan, who is also Machang MP, said residents often experienced disruptions in water supply due to clogged pipes.

He said the allocation would also be used to repair water pipes that sourced water from hilly areas.
