PUTRAJAYA:
A Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) senior officer has been remanded for four days from today to facilitate investigations into abuse of power involving a sum of RM80,000 to pay for skincare treatments and a slimming programme.

The order to remand the man was issued by magistrate Nik Isfahanie Tasnim Wan Ab Rahman.

The officer is being investigated under Section 23 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 for abusing his position for personal interests.

According to an MACC source, the anti-graft agency applied for a seven-day remand but the court ordered a four-day remand instead after learning of the officer’s health issues.

The officer was reportedly arrested at his home in Kuala Lumpur at about 11am on Wednesday.

Media reports said the man is believed to have misused an MAHB-provided corporate credit card to pay for a treatment that was not in the contract benefits.

It is understood that the credit card was only for official use as stated in the company’s standard operating procedure.
