KUALA LUMPUR:
Celebrity Fitness and Fitness First Asia are merging to create one of the largest fitness club networks in Asia, with the combined entity under Evolution Wellness Holdings Pte Ltd (Evolution Wellness).

Evolution Wellness will comprise 152 wholly-owned fitness clubs across Asia, bridging two of the most experienced management teams in Asian health and fitness, said chief executive officer Simon Flint, in a statement today.

“Joining forces will allow us to operate with increased scale, reach and efficiency to enhance our members’ experience through the continued expansion of our club networks,” he said.

Post-merger, the fitness company will have significant presence in the region, with operational scale in four key countries — namely Indonesia (46 clubs), Malaysia (35), Thailand (28), and Singapore (21).

“The increased scale of operations will better allow Evolution Wellness to capture opportunities in Asia, supported by strong macro and social trends,” Flint said.

The merger is backed by strong financial sponsors from Navis Capital Partners and Oaktree Capital Management.
