
Johor Menteri Besar Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the move was being taken to provide suitable legal assistance to the families affected by the tragedy.
“The state government will help the families by appointing lawyers to review the next course of action,” he said in a statement here today.
Mohamed Khaled also said that the state government would provide immediate financial aid of RM1,600 to each family of the victims who were killed in the incident.
He said the aid, from the State Funeral Fund, Johor Islamic Religious Council (MAIJ) and the Social Welfare Department, would be channelled through state and federal agencies.
In the 3am incident, eight teenagers were mowed down by a car driven by a 22-year-old woman while they were riding along Jalan Lingkaran Dalam near here.
