
According to PPBM’s Facebook page, this was made official at the PPBM divisional chiefs appointment ceremony in Putrajaya today.
The ceremony saw the appointment of 126 divisional chiefs nationwide.
Mahathir, when appointed as the prime minister in 1981, had placed extensive focus on the development of Langkawi.
He declared Langkawi as a free port to encourage trading activities and had established the Langkawi Development Authority (Lada) to bring about development in the island.
At the ceremony today, PPBM president Muhyiddin Yassin was appointed as the party’s divisional chief in Pagoh.
Muhyiddin said the ceremony was a historic moment for PPBM and it marked the beginning of the party’s preparations ahead of the 14th general election.
Muhyiddin has been the MP for Pagoh since 1978.
