The riot was at 11pm, soon after Penang lost 0-1 to Sarawak in a Super League match. The fourth straight loss for the Panthers proved too much for their hardcore supporters.

Police said all the suspects in the early 20s were arrested around the stadium after the police managed to stop the riot.

There were no reports of people getting hurt in the rioting. There was also no damage to Stadium Negeri.
