KUALA LUMPUR: Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng lodged a police report today to “force” Federal Territories Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor to come clean over claims the Penang government has neglected Malays in the state.

Lawyer and Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh who accompanied Lim to the Dang Wangi police headquarters here said that the minister’s statement was serious and baseless.

“Such allegations may lead to unrest among the races.”

“We want the police to investigate this claim under the Penal Code and Sedition Act,” he said, adding Tengku Adnan should come out and justify his claims to the authorities.

Tengku Adnan was reported by Bernama as suggesting that Penang be made a Federal Territory to ensure equal development.

He had also allegedly said that Putrajaya wanted to help Penang Malays who have been neglected.

“We know what is happening in Penang. They (the state government) do not care about the Malays,” he reportedly said.

Ramkarpal also said Tengku Adnan must be prepared to face the consequences of his statement, including facing criminal prosecution.

“If he sticks to his press statement, then he must explain why he made such remarks on undermining the Penang government,” he said, adding DAP will leave it to the police to investigate the complaint.
