Mother detained after baby found slain at army camp

Kelantan police chief says the 32 year old is believed to have slashed the baby's throat with a knife at home while her army corporal husband was out.

Police have detained a woman for allegedly killing her two month-old baby girl at the Kem Desa Pahlawan army quarters in Kok Lanas, Kota Bharu, today.

Kelantan police chief Dr Ab Rahman Ismail said the 32-year-old wife of an army corporal, was believed to have slashed the baby’s throat with a knife.

“The incident occurred at 2.45pm while her husband was not home. A neighbour, who realised what took place, reported the matter to the police,” he told reporters when met at a Sepak Takraw tournament at Sekolah Rendah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SRJKC) Tei Hwa here.

He said the suspect, from Kampung Jal, Tumpat, was with the baby when she was arrested.
