Honda recalls models made in 2012 to replace airbags

Nearly 25,000 cars of six models are affected, says car maker.

Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd will recall some 24,962 cars manufactured in 2012 to replace the Takata front passenger airbag inflator.

In a statement today, Honda Malaysia said the models that would be recalled for this purpose included the Accord, Jazz, Jazz Hybrid, City, Freed and Insight.

It said the company was extending its proactive measures to ensure the safety of their customers, which was a top priority.

“We reiterate that all our current models are not affected and (we) will continue to uphold transparency and stringent controls to ensure customer safety,” it said.

Honda Malaysia said it will be informing affected customers through mail.

“Those who receive these letters are encouraged to send their vehicles to the nearest Honda authorised dealer for inspection and replacement.”
