This follows the portal’s report entitled “Wakil rakyat PAN cuti mewah di UK abai mangsa bah” (Amanah representative goes on luxury UK vacation, neglects flood victims) which allegedly accused Kamarul of going on a trip to London when the floods hit the state last December.
“We will proceed with legal action. The writ of summons will be filed today,” Raja Bahrin told reporters at Amanah’s headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today.
Speaking to FMT, Raja Bahrin said he had written a letter of demand in the middle of January to Mynewshub’s parent company, MyNewsNet Sdn Bhd, to give it an opportunity to apologise and retract the statement.
He said, however, MyNewsNet had denied responsibility for the publication.
“They denied that they had anything to do with it, but when we checked at the RoS (Registrar of Societies), it said MyNewsNet was indeed the parent company.
“So, we’ve given them ample time to retract the article and apologise, and since they’ve refused to do so or even take responsibility for it, we will now act,” he told FMT.
He is being represented by lawyer and Amanah Sepang MP Mohamed Hanipa Maidin.
In an earlier report, Raja Bahrin described the report in Mynewshub as malicious, and explained that the photograph showing him with his family was from a visit to London on Oct 2 last year.
He said all his activities could be seen on his Facebook page and Instagram.
“I was on the ground in Terengganu from Dec 27 until Jan 7.
“This is an example of those who did not make an effort to verify their report,” he said.
