
State Health and Environment Committee chairman Ayub Rahmat said the number increased from 8,045 people as at 10pm yesterday.
He said all the flood victims were from the districts of Segamat, Kota Tinggi, Kluang, Muar and Tangkak.
“In Segamat, the number of victims at the 54 centres increased to 6,206 people comprising 1,781 families from 6,213 people (1,783 families) last night.
“In Tangkak, the 1,534 flood victims (392 families) were at 12 evacuation centres; Kota Tinggi (five people from three families at a centre); Kluang (211 people from 56 families at four centres) and Muar (174 victims from 45 families at two centres),” he said in a statement here today.
Ayub said so far, only evacuation centres in the Johor Bahru, Mersing and Batu Pahat districts had been closed, while the districts of Kulai and Pontian were not affected by the floods.
Meanwhile in NEGERI SEMBILAN, the number of flood victims increased to 157 people as at 8am today, from 150 people last night.
According to the Social Welfare Department’s infobanjir, the 157 evacuees (43 families) are from Taman Sungai Gemas and they are being accommodated at the evacuation centre at Dewan Besar Gemas.
It said the evacuation centre at Balairaya Kampung Jeram Panjang had been closed last night after the evacuees, comprising four families, returned to their respective homes.
In PERAK, a total of 569 people from 176 families were still at eight flood evacuation centres in five districts as at 8am today.
According to the Social Welfare Department’s infobanjir, the evacuation centres are in the districts of Kinta, Larut Matang and Selama, Manjung, Hilir Perak and Perak Tengah.
Manjung recorded the highest number of flood victims at 383 people, with 180 of them at Dewan Inderawati, Beruas, and the remaining 203 people at Sekolah Rendah Agama Rakyat Padang Serai.
In the district of Larut Matang and Selama, there are 65 evacuees at two relief centres, comprising Dewan Orang Ramai Matang Merbau Sungai Tinggi (24 people) and Surau Padang Serai Dalam (41 people).
In Kinta, 76 people are at the Dewan Sikh Settlement Tanjung Tualang, while in Hilir Perak, the 31 flood victims are at Sekolah Kebangsaan Pengkalan Ara.
In the Hilir Perak district, four people were accommodated at the evacuation centre at Surau Kampung Talang Belanja Kiri, Parit, and 10 others at Surau Nurul Jannah, Parit 6, Layang-Layang Kiri, Parit.
In KELANTAN, The number of flood victims increased to 361 people as at 8am today, from 243 people last night.
They are being accommodated at 10 evacuation centres in the Gua Musang, Pasir Puteh, Kuala Krai, Jeli and Tanah Merah districts.
According to the Social Welfare Department, through its infobanjir application, 150 of the victims (34 families) are at two evacuation centres in Gua Musang, followed by 81 people (24 families) at two centres in Pasir Puteh.
In Kuala Krai, 77 people (20 families) are at four centres; Jeli (47 people from 15 families at one centre) and a family of six people are at a centre in Tanah Merah.
Meanwhile, the portal ebanjir.kelantan.gov.my, stated that the water in Sungai Kelantan at the Krai Steps in Kuala Krai was now at 27.74 metres, from 25.35m last night. The danger level is 25m.
The water level in Sungai Golok, Rantau Panjang, has dropped to 9.11m from 9.18m last night, but still above the danger level of 9m.
In SABAH, the number of flood victims at three evacuation centres in Pitas and Paitan has dropped to 228 people from 86 families as at 8am today.
Sabah State Disaster Management Committee secretariat chief Colonel Mulliadi Al-Hamdi Ladin said 45 victims (10 families) are at the evacuation centre at Dewan Kampung Binsulung in Paitan.
In the Pitas district, he said 61 of the victims (28 families) were at Sekolah Kebangsaan Pekan 2 and 122 victims (48 families) were at Dewan Komuniti Kampung Indah.
In SARAWAK, 14 primary schools in Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri were closed today due to the floods.
Sarawak Disaster Management Commitee secretariat chief, from the Civil Defence Force, Major Ismail Mahedin said the school closure involved 1,232 students.
They are Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Bukit Balai, SK Kuala Sigu, SK Genaan, SK Bukit Mawang, SK Kuala Binyo, SK Long Sobeng, SK Kuala Bok, SK Long Luyang, SK Ulu Segan, SK Sg Anak, SK St Dunstan, SK St Swithun, SK Long Jegan and SK Long Teran Kanan.
However, no one has been evacuated.
In SELANGOR, the number of flood victims at three evacuation centres in the Sabak Bernam district increased to 364 people (105 families) as at 8am today, from 352 people last night.
A spokesman at the Sabak Bernam disaster operations room said the number of victims at Dewan Sri Bernam, Sungai Besar, increased to 161 people (46 families), from 151 victims (42 families) last night.
“The number of victims at Dewan Parit Baru, Sungai Air Tawar, shows a drop from 169 people to 171 people (51 families),” he said.
He said the number of flood victims remained at 32 people (eight families) at the evacuation centre at Dewan Seri Nakhoda in Bagan Nakhoda Omar.
He also said the Selangor Drainage and Irrigation Department had provided four pumps to drain the flood water to the sea.
“Several areas, like Kampung Parit 5, Parit Baru, and Sungai Tengar, are submerged under about 0.3 metre of water and the residents cannot go out to the sea,” he added.
