PETALING JAYA:
The prime minister’s press secretary Tengku Sariffuddin Tengku Ahmad wants Lim Kit Siang to come out and deny he has any ambition of being the deputy prime minister should the opposition take over Putrajaya in the next general election.

Referring to the DAP parliamentary leader’s recent meeting with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad, and the outreach to PAS as well, Tengku Sariffuddin said it was important for the people to know the truth.

“It is crucial and timely for Lim Kit Siang to explain why he is reluctant to admit that he will be the deputy prime minister and finance minister in a Pakatan Harapan government.

“Malaysians need to know whether he will assume the posts if the opposition coalition wins the next general election (GE14),” Tengku Sariffuddin said, adding it is only right because the people must know who will be the country’s leaders if they vote for Pakatan Harapan.

“If however, it is not the case, then Lim should make a Statutory Declaration, as Tunku Abdul Aziz Ibrahim suggested, stating that he will refuse to be deputy prime minister and finance minister if the opposition coalition wins the next general election.

“It is the people’s right to know the truth of Lim’s limitless political ambitions so they can make an informed choice before voting,” Tengku Sariffudin said.

Acknowledging that DAP is the party with the biggest number of parliamentary seats in the oppostion coalition, Tengku Sariffuddin said the reality would be that DAP will play a dominant role within a Pakatan Harapan government.
