Bahri was alleged to have stiffled police investigations against his wife in a dispute over a will.
Bahri, who was the former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) Special Operations Division (SOD) director, was alleged to have abused his power to ensure no action was taken on police reports lodged against his wife.
A press conference would be held this Friday to expose the alleged abuse of power, the event’s assistant organiser Firdaus Kader told FMT.
Firdaus said Bahri’s wife was allegedly implicated in a dispute over a will left by her late brother, Zamri Abdullah, who was the former president of Kolej Islam Sains Teknologi (Kist).
Controversy erupted after it was found that Zamri’s wife, Noraihan Che Ali, was not named in his will. Noraihan, who is now the president of Kist, will be chairing the press conference on Friday.
“We will present the proof this Friday, and those affected by Bahri’s power abuse will also be there.
“We believe Bahri had used his position in MACC to make sure the police reports lodged against his wife were ignored,” said Firdaus.
In an immediate response to this latest development, a source close to Bahri told FMT that this was an obvious attempt to defame the former MACC man after his explosive revelation when announcing his early retirement.
“Bahri has denied this allegation (abuse of power).”
When asked if Bahri would take action against those out to defame him, the source replied:
“He didn’t want to lodge a counter report against his sister-in-law out of respect for the deceased (Zamri).
“And she (Noraihan) has children to raise, so he’s concerned about them.”
