Health officers close down well-known fast food restaurant in Seremban and probe another in Nilai.

PETALING JAYA:
Cockroaches in your drink and worms in your chilli sauce were on the menu at two restaurants in Negeri Sembilan, according to NST Online today.

The health authorities were not impressed.

Following a customer’s Internet post of a picture of a chocolate drink served with cockroaches, the state health department swooped in to inspect and close down a well-known fast food restaurant.

State health director Dr Abdul Rahim Abdullah said they were not satisfied with the cleanliness of the premises after an inspection of the restaurant.

“We discovered the premises had failed to take any action on pest control.

““The premises only obtained a 57.5% cleanliness rating.

“I have instructed it to be closed for two weeks, under Section 11 of the Food Act 1983.

“The owner can appeal after resolving the cleanliness issue.”

The health department is also investigating a well-known restaurant chain in Bandar Baru Nilai after a diner posted a video of maggots wriggling in its chilli sauce on social media.

Rahim said an inspection on Monday found the restaurant did not have proper storage space for uncooked food.

“We issued the restaurant a notice, under Section 32B of the Food Hygiene Regulations 2009.

“We also took samples of the chilli sauce on the premises. We have sent them to the laboratory for analysis before we take further action.”
