SUNGAI PETANI: A man believed to have forced his wife into prostitution and pimped her out to foreign men for as low as RM50 was arrested in a raid on a house in Bandar Amanjaya here yesterday.

Kuala Muda police chief ACP Md Zukir Md Isa said the 34-year-old man’s activities were discovered after a neighbourhood watch group sighted the couple behaving suspiciously and raided the house at 9.30pm yesterday.

“The 23-year-old woman claimed to have been taken to the house in Bandar Amanjaya by her own husband who allegedly pimped her out to a Bangladeshi man for RM50.

“According to the woman, her husband would wait in the car with their child while she had to do what he told her to do after being blackmailed and beaten up,” he said in a statement here today.

Zukir said during the raid, however, the Bangladeshi man managed to escape.

Zukir said initial investigations found that the couple got married three years ago and had two children.

“The victim had been forced into prostitution since early last month after her husband quit his job,” he said, adding that the man had been remanded until Jan 10 to facilitate further investigation into the case under Section 372(A)(1) of the Penal Code.
