Kajang deputy police chief Supt Abdul Ghani Mohamad Ji said the man, identified as Molok Zainal Abidin, 51, and his wife, Rosana Bahtiar, 21, died at the scene in the afternoon mishap.

“The impact of the crash caused the concrete piles to slide to the front of the lorry, pinning the man and his wife to their seats before they were burnt to death when the lorry caught fire,” he said when contacted by Bernama here today.

Meanwhile, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (Operations) Mohd Sani Harul said eight firefighters from the Semenyih fire station were rushed to the scene to help extricate the bodies before they were taken to Serdang Hospital for post mortem.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
