In his speech at a dialogue in Raub, Pahang today, Lim said he had written and spoken almost daily for the past 51 years and that every word was on public record.
“They (Umno leaders and cybertroopers) are welcome to comb through what I had said or written in the past 51 years, including the rooms of records of my statements, books, tapes and videos in the Special Branch, to produce proof that I am anti-Malay, anti-Islam and anti-Malay Rulers.”
He said however, that the inability of his accusers to produce such evidence was proof of Umno’s politics of hate, falsehood and fake news.
In recent years, Lim said, he has been accused of being a communist during the Malayan insurgency as well as being the cause of the May 13 riots in 1969.
He said he has never operated underground as alleged, nor was he even in Kuala Lumpur when the May 13 racial riots broke out.
Lim, who is Gelang Patah MP, noted that allegations of him being the cause of the May 13 riots and being a communist were never made before the 2008 general election, in which the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) lost its two-thirds majority in parliament for the first time.
“Why? The reasons are simple. There is no basis or truth to such lies and falsehoods!
“The Umno leadership of the first four prime ministers, Tunku Abdul Rahman, Abdul Razak, Hussein Onn and Dr Mahathir Mohamad, never made these two allegations against me for the Special Branch at the time would know whether I had been the cause of the May 13 riots in 1969 or whether I was a communist.”
Lim called on Umno leaders and cybertroopers to stop their politics of lies, falsehood, fake news and hatred if they really loved Malaysia as such gutter politics harmed nation building.
“We can differ, however strongly or vociferously, about what is best for Malaysia but let us not take leave of decency, truth, honesty and honour, or we risk condemning Malaysia to the fate of a failed and rogue state.”
