Express bus crash: Abdullah Hadi buried last night

Remains of Indian national arrived at Masjid India, Jalan Duke, at about 10.20pm where final funeral rites were performed before the burial.

The remains of Abdullah Hadi Yusof, the Indian national killed in the express bus tragedy in Pagoh on Dec 24, was buried at Kebun Teh Muslim Cemetery, here at about 11pm last night.

The remains which were claimed by relatives at Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital, Muar, at 7pm, arrived at Masjid India, Jalan Duke, at about 10.20pm where final funeral rites were performed before the burial.

About 50 people including family and friends attended the funeral.

Abdullah Hadi, from Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India had been living in Malaysia for three years.

His brother-in-law, Ahmad Tayyub Ismail who represented his family in India, said the family gave permission for his remains to be buried in Johor Bahru.

He said Abdullah Hadi’s wife, his two children and father would arrive from India at the latest by this afternoon to visit his grave.

Abdullah Hadi was among 14 people killed in the bus accident at Km 137.3 of North-South Highway near Kampung Jayor, Pagoh, early Saturday morning.

The express bus was believed to have been speeding before it plunged into a 10-metre ravine and crashed into a concrete wall at Kampung Jayor.

Sixteen other passengers were also injured in the tragedy.
