According to PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil, Syarul, better known as Ratu Naga, was acting on her own initiative when she went to Jamal’s residence.
“I was not informed about it and if I had known, I would have gone with her,” he said.
Yesterday, Ratu Naga went to Jamal’s residence in Ampang to give him water after he reportedly said he had gone four days without a bath.
Jamal, however, claimed Ratu Naga had only come with a bottle of water, which he and 30 Red Shirts members took as an insult.
They then proceeded to throw eggs, flour and drain water at her.
Jamal had claimed that Ratu Naga had been accompanied by several PKR members but Pertubuhan Sinar Ehsan chairman, known only as Pak Anjang, had said that Ratu Naga and her husband were representing the NGO.
He said he and four other NGO members had gone with the couple to Jamal’s house.
“Sometimes, members tell us what they’re going to do and sometimes they don’t,” said Fahmi.
“We encourage our members to let us know so that we can provide some form of security and arrange for media coverage.
“But at the same time, we do not discourage them from taking their own initiative.”
He cited the case of Indera Kayangan assemblyman Chan Ming Kai who was arrested for allegedly obstructing the installation of a tower in Taman Jaya Diri in Kangar and obstructing policemen on duty there.
“We didn’t know what he was doing until he got arrested,” said Fahmi.
Ratu Naga joined PKR in October.
