Likas assemblyman Junz Wong said the “big shareholder” continued to get deals from the Sabah government despite his alleged involvement in the Sabah Water Department (SWD) corruption scandal two months ago.
“The fact that the ‘big shareholder’ was one of the early key suspects in the scandal disturbs me,” Wong said in a statement released today which gave details of the person and the company.
He said this person had been remanded and investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over the RM3.3 billion corruption scandal at SWD.
The Parti Warisan Sabah vice-president asked the state government to disclose all deals that it had with the said company and shareholder.
Wong claimed the company, as a contractor for SWD, was being paid almost RM2 million monthly.
“The contract is to operate, maintain and manage river intakes and water treatment plants in three areas at RM1,956,364.58 monthly for 20 years,” Wong said, quoting details of the work revealed during the last state assembly sitting.
Wong said a state statutory body was also renting its current office in a building where the land title was in the name of this “big shareholder”.
“I don’t know if it was just a coincidence,” Wong said, adding the rental paid by the state to the “big shareholder” amounted to RM677,505.80 per year.
