He said TNB had informed the state that any such postponement would result in serious repercussions.
Azmin said TNB had already postponed once the task initially scheduled for Sept 23.
It was also postponed earlier due to work on the Air Langat 2 water treatment plant, as well as the school holidays and examination season, he was quoted as saying by Sin Chew Daily.
Azmin told reporters in Shah Alam today that the state government had met with Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd to find a way to ensure the water cuts in the Klang Valley, which began this morning, would not last beyond the scheduled six days (Dec 24).
This is so that those celebrating Christmas can enjoy the festive season, he added.
Azmin’s statement came following public outcry over the prospect of water cuts during Christmas.
An estimated 3.9 million households and businesses in the Klang Valley have to put up with the water supply disruption.
“TNB said the work could no longer be delayed, and that it could take up to a month to fix (the substation),” said Azmin.
“So the state government agreed to let TNB carry out the necessary maintenance work to avoid more serious water disruptions.”
