Singaporean cook assaulted, found lying on road

Police say the victim is believed to have been beaten by three men using baseball bats.

JOHOR BAHRU: A Singaporean cook, believed to have been assaulted, was found lying on the road in Jalan Sutera, near Kompleks Sentosa, near here, yesterday morning.

Johor Baru South district police chief ACP Sulaiman Salleh said the man, aged 44, was found at about 7.30am by police and that the victim was believed to have been beaten by three men using baseball bats.

“The victim suffered injuries to the back of the head and bruises on the body, and he does not seem to know exactly why he was assaulted,” Sulaiman said in a statement here yesterday.

The victim was sent to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital here for treatment and is now in a stable condition.

Police are still investigating to determine the motive for the attack and urged those who witnessed the incident to come forward and help in investigations.
