“This is another incarnation of the opposition, from APU in the 1990 general election to Pakatan Harapan now, formed to deceive the people.
“They keep changing the name but it is still the same people from different ideologies leading the coalition,” he told FMT.
Nur Jazlan, who is also deputy home minister, said the electoral pact was no different from a marriage of convenience and no more than just another political ploy.
“This pact is a marriage of convenience as PPBM is using Pakatan and hopes to form an alliance with BN after the polls if they can win enough seats.”
On Tuesday, Pakatan Harapan and PPBM formalised their electoral pact via the signing of a memorandum of understanding during a press conference.
However, PPBM hasn’t officially joined the opposition coalition despite claiming that it shares similar struggles and principles with the opposition bloc.
“Pakatan needs PPBM to split Umno voters silently.
“PPBM leaders are ex-Umno leaders who want to appeal to Umno members to quietly reject Umno.
“At the same time, PPBM needs Pakatan to support its candidates so that it can win enough seats to offer its Malay leader to lead Pakatan later, or to join Umno if Pakatan fails to win the 14th general election.
“But they will both fail as Umno and BN voters can see through their deception.”
The agreement signed between Pakatan Harapan and PPBM yesterday also requires its signatory parties to ensure straight fights against Barisan Nasional in the next general election.
