The party will play host if the minister, or his deputy, was willing to visit the east coast city.
The conditions at the hospital are deplorable and deteriorating by the day, said LDP deputy president Chin Su Phin in a statement in the Daily Express.
He said most of the medical facilities and equipment at the hospital were far behind the standard in other government hospitals in the country.
These included the operation room and radiology services such as CT scan, mammogram and fluroscopy.
In addition, he said the hospital had poor ventilation, problematic electrical wiring, plumbing issues and lifts that were constantly breaking down.
“The condition of these facilities should be improved immediately,” said Chin in echoing his remarks during the debate on Budget 2017 in the Senate.
The LDP chief noted the number of kidney patients in Sandakan was increasing.
“This calls for the number of hemodialysis machines at the hospital to be increased.”
Chin expressed concern that the health ministry appeared to be ignoring the DoK Hospital.
He wanted to know the last time the government carried out improvements to the infrastructure and facilities at the hospital and the total amount spent.
He noted that Budget 2017 pledges RM536 million to upgrade hospital facilities. Apparently, the amount covers cardiology equipment and 100 ambulances nationwide.
Chin wanted to know how much of that money would be spent on Sabah and Sarawak.
