GEORGE TOWN:
A 37-year-old former reservist was remanded for another seven days, after a week of investigation into his alleged shooting of his businessman boss Ong Teik Kwong, 32.

The Sessions Court here allowed the remand application for the reservist, while Ong’s driver, Lim Boon Leng, 32, was freed.

Lim was remanded together with the reservist, whom police believe was “mentally unstable”.

Sessions Court assistant registrar Ahmad Tajudin Zain denied police’s application to remand Lim further.

He, however, allowed the reservist to be detained until Dec 15 to help facilitate investigation into the murder of Ong.

The reservist allegedly opened fire at Ong while he was behind the wheel of his BMW and then reportedly went on a shooting rampage on the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway last Thursday.

The bodyguard claimed the lives of two others and injured five more who happened to be in the area.
