PETALING JAYA:
Police have not concluded their investigations into last month’s Bersih 5 rally.

This was evident when Klang MP Charles Santiago joined the long list of people who have been called in for questioning regarding their involvement in the gathering on Nov 19 in Kuala Lumpur.

Santiago revealed there was no police report against him. Instead, the police only needed him to help with their investigations.

“I asked the cop who had made the report against me. His answer was that there was no report and that they were calling up people who could give information about what happened during Bersih 5,” he said.

When Santiago pointed out to the police officer at the Sentul district police headquarters that police already had all the pictures and recordings, the policeman told him that this was just protocol.

“One of the questions they asked me was whether or not I spoke on that day and if I did what I spoke about.

“I told them I spoke about the importance of free and fair elections.”

Santiago said he was also asked whether he could identify a woman in a photo and to tell the police whether or not she was there.

“I told them I was not familiar with the person.

“I think they are showing pictures of different people to identify who else was there and what they were talking about.”

Santiago claimed he also saw a thick file with names.

“I think they’re going to call a lot of people. I think they’re investigating everyone who spoke in Jalan Bangsar.”

Santiago said he was with his lawyer, John Fam, during the questioning.
