KUALA LUMPUR: The Heat Malaysia is shutting down on the first anniversary of its operations.

The news portal announced on its website that it would cease operations from today due to a “business decision”.

“We sought to highlight the wrongs, and be the voice of those who are unable to speak for themselves. That voice is no more.

theheatm4“The Heat Malaysia is not the first, nor will it be the last to lose that voice.”

The Heat Malaysia is the second independent news portal to shut down this year, after The Malaysian Insider in March.

The Heat Malaysia was a weekly publication that was established in 2013. It was suspended under the Printing Presses and Publications Act the same year.

The news outlet went online last year, although the suspension was later lifted.
